From the day of its founding, Mongolian Philharmonic has held as its guiding purpose the dissemination of professional musical art in Mongolia and the provision of musical education accessible to all. In pursuit of this purpose, it has regularly organized lectures-concerts throughout the country, presenting classical and contemporary works to audiences and listeners in a form that is both intelligible and engaging.
In 2020 Mongolian Philharmonic brought the principal orientation of its activities together under the motto "Music for Everyone" and began a phased renewal of the lecture-concert programs delivered under that name. In doing so, it has refined the content, the form and the methodology of these programs in line with the age and understanding of schoolchildren and university students, their level of education and their curricula, giving particular attention to presenting the art of music in an intelligible and accessible way.
The "Music for Everyone" lecture-concerts are not confined to concert activity alone: the initiative is expanding into a major project for the advancement of arts education and audience culture. Widely known among students and schoolchildren, the project has increased interest in the art of music while earning the appreciation and support of teachers, parents, educational institutions and the wider public, and it has taken shape as the foundation of a comprehensive program of enlightenment.
Beyond presenting musical works, the project imparts knowledge of their historical development, of the distinctive qualities of individual compositions, of the value of art, and of the national and world musical heritage. It is a substantial undertaking that makes a real contribution to preparing a younger generation of culturally educated citizens.
Looking ahead, Mongolian Philharmonic is working to widen the scope of the "Music for Everyone" project still further, extending its activities to people in the provinces, to children and young people in regions with limited access to musical education, and to listeners of every age. Strengthening cooperation with educational and cultural institutions and increasing the impact and reach of the project by introducing new content and contemporary methods, will likewise remain an important part of the mission and the long-term development policy of the Mongolian Philharmonic.
