ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

The Ts.Namsraijav Mongolian Philharmonic, named after the State Prize Winning and People's Artist of Mongolia

The foundations of the Mongolian Philharmonic were laid with the establishment of a symphony orchestra under the Mongolian Radio Committee, by Order No. 118 of the Ministry of Culture of the Mongolian People's Republic of 5 June 1957. Subsequently, by Resolution No. 283 of the Council of Ministers of the Mongolian People's Republic of 20 July 1972, the Bayan Mongol ensemble of the State Committee for Information, Radio and Television was merged with the Soyol Erdene music group of the State Folk Song and Dance Ensemble, and, on the initiative of Ts.Namsraijav, State Prize Winning, People's Artist of Mongolia.

Mongolian Philharmonic was formed. Established to bring the country's concert organizations together under unified management, Mongolian Philharmonic gave its inaugural concert on 25 October of that year at the State Musical Drama Theatre (the Theatre of Opera and Ballet). Mongolian Philharmonic is a major concert institution uniting the Symphony Orchestra, the Bayan Mongol Big Band and the Morin Khuur Orchestra, with a staff of more than 180 artists and employees, and it presents more than 100 large-scale concerts and events each year on its own stage and on international stages.
