The “Bayan Mongol” Jazz orchestra which laid the foundations for the Mongolian pop and variety arts was established by the guidance of Mongolian Honoured Artistic Worker, composer, T Chimeddorj in 1969. Since then, many popular singers, musicians, composers and conductors of the pop and variety music sprang off the orchestra and their works gained in popularity amongst the public.
Amongst them were working Mongolian Honoured Artistic Worker, composer, T. Chimeddorj, composer, T. Urtnasan, Mongolian Honoured Artistic Worker, composer, B. Ganbat, J. Batsaikhan, B. Nyamdorj as well as foreign jazz music conductors such as W. Smagin /Russian/, Eddy Gaytan, Raimondo Calasido, Rai Montesinos, Rembers /all Cubans/, Kril Ekinomov /Bulgarian/ and the composers such as B. Davaa, S. Baatarsukh, L. Bataa, D. Bekhbat and solo instrumentalists, L. Sukhbaatar, B. Ganbat, D. Gantumur, B. Nyambayar, D. Baatarsuren, J. Sukhbaatar, B. Munkhbayar, D. Myagmardorj, B. Munkherdene, D. Naranbaatar have been performing their arts works.
“Bayan Mongol” has not only rendered its performances in all regiuns across Mongolia, it has staged renditions in about 10 countries such as Cuba, Russian Federation, Peoples’s Republic of China, Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany and North Korea.
Since 1977, the annual international festivals “Songs by friends” and “Blue Mongolia” have been staged in Mongolia and collaboration with foreign singers took place.
They have repeatedly received the winner’s award from the annual festivals such as “Golden Autumn” and “Horse-headed fiddle” and were awarded with the 2nd winner’s prize in the international Jazz festival held in Russia, the winner of the crystal trophy in the “Spring Jazz” festival held in Russian Federation. These awards authorized their expertise and skills of the orchestra.
